Dr. Mason-Blakley is a professional engineer and a seasoned risk analyst with fifteen years of software development experience. He uses a “systems thinking” approach to understand the risks his clients are taking on. Dr. Mason-Blakley works with clients to rapidly identify vulnerabilities, implement mitigations, and balance cost and the risk of exposure. His dissertation, “Information System Hazard Analysis”, describes a novel hazard analysis method grounded in the mil-std 882 that promotes the application of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Hazard Operability (HazOp), and Event Chain Analysis in addition to thorough requirements analysis.



James Williams, JD

James Williams is a software and data protection expert who has worked with numerous public and private sector organizations on privacy and security issues. He recently spent six years as a software engineer on Google's privacy and security team, working on tasks ranging from regulatory compliance, standards development, machine learning engineering, and anonymization/de-identification. He has published numerous articles in legal and technical journals, and he holds several advanced degrees in computer science and law.
